The Los Angeles-based AI Media Festival (AIMF) is preparing its September 24–26, 2027 edition for international filmmakers, digital artists, animators and music-video creators. Categories include Best International Narrative, science fiction, fantasy, horror, 2D and 3D AI animation, music videos, movie trailers and promos, digital art and a student showcase. Submission requirements
AI must contribute at some point in a submitted work's production, whether scriptwriting, imagery, sound, character design, editing or other processes. Upload only a final film via a secure online FilmFreeway screener: physical media and rough cuts are not accepted. Non-English entries need English subtitles, and every additional project requires its own non-refundable fee. The student showcase is restricted to enrolled school creators aged 17 or younger, requiring student ID. The applicant must clear music, performers' images and all third-party rights; unauthorised deepfakes of real people violate the rules. A festival-ready DCP may be requested after selection.
Schedule, fees, prizes and intellectual property
As of October 29, 2026, this is an advance notice. Applications start November 1, 2026. Early-bird deadline December 31; regular January 31, 2027; final April 30, notification June 1, festival September 24–26. The International Narrative, Animation, Music Video and Digital Art categories display US$60 standard or $50 FilmFreeway Gold fee, while certain sections including Science-Fiction and the Student Showcase increase to $70 after early-bird. All fees are non-refundable. Awards focus on engraved crystal trophies and official laurels, not an advertised fixed cash prize. Submission grants non-exclusive use for screenings and promotion.
