AIR in Tainan 2027 - Siao-Long Cultural Park

An international residency at Siao-Long Cultural Park inviting projects responding to 'sugar,' 'salt,' or local culture, including Tainan's sugar industry, salt landscapes, local history, and cultural traditions.

Deadline: 31 August 2026 at 23:59 Taiwan time. Applications opened on 1 July 2026.

Eligibility

• No restriction on artistic discipline.

• Applicants must have basic communication ability in English or Chinese.

• Projects must respond to 'sugar,' 'salt,' or local culture as described in the official theme.

Application / Project Requirements

• Online application only through the AIR in Tainan system.

• Upload a CV, residency plan, and at least one signed recommendation letter.

• The official page lists three residency periods: 2 March-31 May, 1 April-30 June, and 2 August-1 November 2027. Applicants enter three preferred dates in the system, with final exhibition dates coordinated after selection.

• Selected artists must complete a residency-results exhibition and at least one family workshop or one open-studio day, and submit a final report.

Funding / Support / Benefits

• Living allowance of NT$800 per day for up to 90 days, maximum NT$72,000.

• Exhibition-production allowance of NT$200 per day for up to 90 days, maximum NT$18,000.

• Free accommodation including utilities, a bicycle, an exhibition hall, shared studio, multimedia equipment, and small tools.

• Creation-material and exhibition-business budget up to NT$150,000 including tax. The organizer handles procurement and reimbursement; this budget is not paid directly to the artist.

• Basic manpower support when available; specialist technical staff must be hired by the artist within the approved budget.

Application Method

• Apply through the AIR in Tainan online system before the deadline.

• Selection results are scheduled to be announced in November 2026 through official websites and by email.

Additional Conditions Stated by the Organizer

• Selected artists must separately pay stamp tax equal to 0.1 percent of the subsidy total.

• Payments follow government accounting procedures. The official call asks selected artists to prepare approximately NT$15,000-20,000 for at least one month of living costs while payment is processed.

• Accommodation is for the selected artist only; companions, family members, assistants, and pets cannot stay in the artist residence.

• Assistant costs must be included within the approved allocation and are not paid separately.
