Animayo 2027: Free International Animation Competition, €3,000 Top Prize, No Generative AI

Animayo Gran Canaria, Spain, is accepting international entries for its 22nd animation and visual-effects competition. The festival takes place May 5–8, 2027, and submitting is free. Eligible formats include animated shorts, animated advertisements, animated music videos and video-game cinematics, including 2D, 3D and stop-motion work.

Eligibility and creative brief

Work must have been completed on or after July 1, 2025, run no more than 30 minutes and contain at least 80% animation. Films entered at previous editions of Animayo cannot be resubmitted. Creators worldwide are welcome. The person registering must generally be aged 18 or above, with minors represented by a guardian, school or other eligible entity.

Prize and key dates

The main Jury Grand Prize for short films carries €3,000 gross. Relevant winning works may qualify to enter the Oscars or Annie Awards under academy rules; this does not guarantee any nomination. Ads, game cinematics and music videos are judged separately from the short-film Grand Prize. Entries close January 10, 2027, at 23:59 Canary Islands time (UTC+0).

How to submit

Use the official online form and supply film information and a private, password-protected, ad-free viewing link. Works using generative AI to create any artistic element, including images, scripts, voices, music or sounds, are excluded. Non-generative technical processes such as noise reduction or color correction can be used. Read all official PDF rules before applying.
