Dome Fest West 2027: Fulldome Films and Interactive Dome Art, Late Entries Through 4 December
The US-based Dome Fest West 2027 invites submissions made for hemispherical fulldome environments, including immersive features, shorts, live dome performances and interactive experiences. The festival is scheduled for 21–25 April 2027 in Boulder, Colorado. Its normal-price deadline has passed, but entries remain open: the current late deadline is 4 December 2026, with a final extension until 8 January 2027.
Four specialised categories
Feature Dome Film is for immersive works longer than 20 minutes including credits; Short Dome Film is for films under 20 minutes. The Live Dome Experience category covers real-time visuals, planetarium performance, live music and educational presentation designed for a dome. The Interactive Fulldome Experience category is for installations and audience-driven work using the distinct shape and possibilities of a dome. The listed categories generally require completion after 1 January 2025, a condition applicants must check for each work.
Submission fee and important dates
For entries by 4 December 2026, the official late-tier fees are US$35 for a feature and US$20 each for a short, live performance or interactive project. During the final extension through 8 January 2027, these rise to US$45 for features, US$30 for shorts and US$25 for live and interactive works. Technical and financial considerations
A fulldome work needs more than a standard rectangular film file or normal interactive web page: producers should examine the specific delivery format, aspect and projection standards, playback or installation support, and rights to score and imagery before applying. Tickets or attendance travel to the Colorado festival are not included with submission fees. Even accepted projects may face technical suitability checks, so entrants should use the festival FAQ and communicate any unusual hardware needs early.
