Hertfordshire Heroes represents the county’s Armed Forces Covenant Board, bringing local authorities, military organisations, charities and other partners together. Hertfordshire launched its covenant in 2011.
Who can enter and what to create
The annual competition is for Hertfordshire pupils in Years 3–6. Create one page, up to A3, showing the Armed Forces and a winter celebration. Glitter is prohibited.
Entry and awards
Schools submit entries by 16 November 2026; no closing time or entry fee is stated. Email scans or clear photographs as JPEG, PNG or PDF to Hertfordshire.Heroes@hertfordshire.gov.uk, naming files SchoolName_YearGroup_Name. Postal instructions are on the official page.
Include pupil, year-group and school details plus the coordinating adult’s contact information. Schools must obtain permissions for children’s work and details. Submitted artwork may appear in council publicity.
One winner per year group receives a certificate and a Northwood HQ prize. The announcement describes an adventure day; schools should confirm arrangements. Judging and distribution may change with military operational commitments.
