Eligibility and festival sections
The 34th Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) invites animation filmmakers worldwide to its April 27–May 2, 2027 edition in Germany. Works selected for competition screen publicly and are presented to producers, distributors and international juries. The festival announces approximately €60,000 in awards across its competitions. The €10,000 International Competition Grand Prix also qualifies its winning film for the Academy Awards longlist.
How to enter
Four short-film routes close in November: International Competition for animated shorts up to 30 minutes; Student Competition for film, art and media students or graduates, also up to 30 minutes; Tricks for Kids for children under twelve and eligible series episodes; and Trickstar Nature for works on climate, ecology and sustainability. The AniMovie feature competition requires at least 60 minutes. Apply via the official Shortfilmdepot platform, normally with works completed after October 1, 2025, and check exact subtitles, music rights and delivery specifications.
Deadline, costs and rights
Short-film entries close November 15, 2026, while AniMovie feature films may enter until January 15, 2027. Do not confuse these deadlines or assume that a film of 30–59 minutes is automatically eligible for either route. Confirm any platform charges, AI-related conditions and screening permissions in the original festival regulations. A Grand Prix does not mean every selected film receives cash or fully financed travel.
