Kolkata Street Photography Festival 2027: Colour, Monochrome and Series Calls End 30 November
The Kolkata International Street Photography Festival 2027 is seeking photographs documenting life in public spaces. Its 2027 contest submission window opened on 15 October 2026 and closes on 30 November, with finalists and the exhibition shortlist scheduled for announcement on 15 December. Three categories allow different approaches to candid visual storytelling: colour single, monochrome single and a sequence of five to ten photographs.
Three tracks, three different narratives
The Street Single Colour category values how colour contributes to the mood, storytelling and composition of a public-space moment. The monochrome track looks for compelling single black-and-white photographs using light, shadow and timing. Street Photo Series requires between five and ten photographs that collectively develop a visual essay. The published rules prohibit excessive manipulation and the addition or removal of image elements, so keep original material.
Submitting and eligibility checks
The current contest page lists the opening and closing calendar and describes the jury categories. Its general summary does not establish a universal free-entry promise or a guaranteed cash prize; entrants should read the actual registration form for any submission fee, file size, caption rules and any payment terms. Allow time before the 30 November cutoff to verify photo sequences and image ownership.
Festival and its ethical approach
The festival is presented as an international meeting of photographers, curators, educators and visual storytellers in Kolkata, India. Its programme includes exhibitions, talks, portfolio reviews and photowalks, promoted by the Sadak Chhaap initiative. Documentary authors should take care with the privacy and dignity of people photographed and verify permissions for any restricted locations, especially when photographing vulnerable subjects.
