Made in NSW Local Fund Round 99: Up to A$1.2 Million for Australian Feature Films and High-End TV
Screen NSW's Made in NSW – Local Fund Round 99 supports major Australian feature-film and high-end television drama production capable of doing the majority of principal photography in New South Wales. It is a specialist screen-industry production fund for footloose projects, designed to bring meaningful employment and economic activity to NSW while reaching national and international audiences.
APPLICATION DATES — Round 99 opened Monday 19 October 2026 and closes Monday 23 November 2026. Screen NSW's published 2026–27 table also lists Round 100 for 8 March–5 April 2027. This is a competitive, defined-round grant, and applications are assessed after the window closes.
PROJECT BUDGET TEST — Eligible projects must have a total production budget BETWEEN A$5 MILLION AND A$18 MILLION. This is a large-scale scheme; microbudget independent short films, personal media-art performances and video game products fall outside the programme's intended funding and project parameters.
FUNDING CEILINGS — The Made in NSW – Local Fund component is up to A$1,000,000. A qualifying Regional Filming Fund component can add up to A$200,000, producing a combined potential ceiling of A$1,200,000. Receiving the regional component depends on separate regional expenditure, filming-day and eligibility thresholds; it is not automatic.
LOCATION OBLIGATIONS — The production must be genuinely capable of choosing its filming location, with the majority of principal photography occurring in NSW. For the regional component the guidelines refer to at least ten principal-photography days in a regional NSW local government area and a minimum A$750,000 of qualifying regional production expenditure for narrative projects.
APPLICANT AND RIGHTS — The scheme targets AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION COMPANIES with the ability and financing to deliver professionally produced films or major TV. Producers should verify company structure, Australian and NSW creative employment benefits, ownership or valid licensing of project rights and Screen NSW Terms of Trade. Merely putting 'Sydney' in a film's story is not enough.
PREPARING A PROPOSAL — Projects should document financing, distributor or broadcaster marketplace interest, production schedule, NSW and regional expenditure plans, staffing, local services, studio or location availability, visual and story quality, cultural consultation and risk mitigation. The official application checklist and Terms of Trade should be read before assembling the financial model.
ABOUT THE ORGANISER — Screen NSW is the state agency supporting NSW screen storytelling, industrial capacity and creative careers. The Made in NSW – Local Fund is distinct from Screen NSW's general Production Fund, which has a lower project-budget ceiling and different eligible types of productions.
