Morningside Music Bridge (MMB) has announced its 2027 Creative Residency for young creative artists aged 12–18 worldwide. Applications open on 1 November 2026 and close on 8 January 2027 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (MST). As of 26 October 2026, applicants can prepare their projects but the new application window has not yet opened.

The Canadian-rooted international music-development organisation hosts its 2027 programme in Boston, United States, from 12 July through 6 August. The Creative Residency is separate from the MMB Performance Program for violinists, violists, cellists and pianists. It welcomes filmmakers, visual artists, photographers, writers, composers, improvisers and multidisciplinary makers.

Eligible projects and artists

Applicants must be between 12 and 18 on the first day of the programme and able to attend the full period. The proposed project should connect meaningfully with the MMB musical community: possibilities include a documentary, a new musical composition, a photography series, a sculptural installation or a collaborative audiovisual work. The creative concept and artistic potential are the main selection criteria.

Apply via Acceptd with a written project proposal describing your goals, relevant supporting materials and two or three examples of past creative work. Video, sound, photos or documents can be included in supported formats; expensive professional recording is not required. The application fee is US$70 and is non-refundable.

Funding, fees or selection

Selected participants attend on a full in-kind scholarship described as worth approximately US$15,000, covering tuition, travel, accommodation, meals and programme activities. This is NOT a US$15,000 cash grant paid directly to the student. Families must still ensure the student has a passport, visas where necessary and appropriate guardian arrangements.

Key restrictions and next steps

Applicants receive decisions around the week of 15 February 2027. Accepted participants who withdraw after 1 April may need to repay non-refundable travel expenses incurred by MMB. Carefully distinguish this creative residency from the separately advertised performance scholarship and confirm the latest conditions before paying.
