One World International Human Rights Film Festival, based in Prague and other Czech cities, is accepting films for its 2027 edition until November 1, 2026. The festival focuses on both human rights themes and cinematic quality. The call offers an opportunity not only for traditional documentary directors but also for immersive media artists making documentary VR, 360-degree moving-image works and animation aimed at younger audiences. However, it is not a general fiction or animation festival with open eligibility for all genres.

Three eligible formats to distinguish

The main film submission route accepts documentary features or mid-length works with a minimum length of 40 minutes. Separately, the Docs for Kids category considers short documentaries or animated films for children. Another category accepts documentary VR experiences, including interactive projects and 360-degree films. A conventional 15-minute adult-oriented fiction short or independent abstract animation without a documentary or human rights focus would generally not fit these formats.

Completion date, language and screener

Films should have been completed between 2025 and 2027. Works still in post-production may be considered only through advance agreement with the festival. English-spoken films or films with English subtitles are required. Applicants provide a free-to-view online screener, preferably a Vimeo link with working password, and the screening link must remain available until the end of February 2027. The organizer does not accept streaming links that demand payment or restrict how many times selectors can view the work.

Strict final submission date

The program's first deadline was September 1, 2026, but the final application deadline is November 1, 2026. Both the online entry form and the screener must be received by that date. Work screened at another film festival may still be submitted. If you are planning a VR experience, verify the headset or platform access instructions in advance so that the curatorial team can view an interactive project without needing specialized equipment that has not been arranged.

Organizer and awards

One World is a long-running Czech international documentary festival renowned for presenting and discussing human rights themes. Its official site identifies an international competition, a VR competition, youth juries, audience awards and regional screenings. The selection process is handled by its own festival committee; acceptance is a chance for screenings and discussion, not an automatic producer salary or guarantee of travel funding. Applicants should review the rights granted to the festival for online previews and archival use.

Final deadline: November 1, 2026. Documentary features minimum 40 minutes; children’s short animation and VR documentaries have separate routes.
