Eligibility: Early-career artists and collectives based in NYC
Open Call is The Shed’s large-scale commissioning program supporting early-career, NYC-based artists working across a wide range of disciplines, including music, poetry, performance, puppetry, visual art, sculpture, video, and interdisciplinary practices. The program champions innovative work and decentralizes curatorial decision-making through a broad selection panel of independent cultural leaders.
Selected artists or collectives receive a commissioning fee of up to USD $15,000, along with robust production support, accessibility planning, and in-kind presenting resources. All Open Call presentations are free to the public and will take place at The Shed in summer 2027 or summer 2028.

There is no application fee, and projects are developed collaboratively with The Shed’s artistic and production teams.
