PLAYA’s Art/Sci Awarded Residency brings artists and scientists together for inquiry, practice, research, and exchange across disciplines at PLAYA in Summer Lake, Oregon.

Application Fee / Participation Fee: The residency is free to attend. The official page lists a 40 USD application fee. The page states that all application fee waivers will be granted if requested by email by 28 June 2026, 11:59pm PT, with no explanation needed.
Eligibility: The residency is open to the global community of scientists and artists. All residents must be 18 years old or older. Individuals and collaborative applications are welcome; each collaborator must apply individually.
Project / Submission Requirements: Applications are submitted through SlideRoom. Applicants choose available residency dates, answer application questions, provide work samples, and provide two references. Work sample requirements depend on discipline; all disciplines must provide 3 to 15 items.
Support / Benefits: Residents stay in one- or two-bedroom cabins free of charge. Cabins include kitchens, bathrooms, and living space. Residency date choices are 21 January to 15 February 2027, 18 February to 1 March 2027, 15 July to 2 August 2027, and 28 October to 15 November 2027.
Application Method: Apply through PLAYA’s SlideRoom application portal. PLAYA states that it does not accept residency applications by email, regular mail, or fax.
Additional Conditions Stated by Organizer: Residents are responsible for travel and food. PLAYA schedules one group meal per week. Family or friends are not permitted to stay overnight during this residency, except where accessibility needs require a caretaker or where transportation-related accommodation is needed for the first and last night.
