Arts Queensland has announced Round 4 of its Queensland Arts Project Fund for 2027, supporting new creative work by Queensland-based individuals and arts organisations. Visual arts, craft, design, exhibitions and certain interdisciplinary arts are included. Importantly, the programme explicitly EXCLUDES film, screen and video-game projects, so this notice is for eligible visual art and exhibitions rather than commercial animation, broadcast productions or games.

UPCOMING, NOT YET OPEN — Round 4 is scheduled to open on 22 January 2027 and close at 2pm Queensland local time on Monday 8 March 2027. The current website may indicate that applications are closed because earlier 2026 rounds have concluded. That does not change the separate Round 4 timetable; applicants should return for the fresh online form once January arrives.

FUNDING BY STREAM — The General stream supports qualifying new creative projects up to A$70,000 over a period of up to one year. The Individuals stream allows up to A$20,000. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led stream allows up to A$70,000 and has its own dedicated assessment. An additional allowance of up to A$10,000 for eligible d/Deaf or disability access costs may be available where it serves the project.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS — Applicants must be QUEENSLAND-BASED. Individuals generally need Queensland as their primary residence, Australian citizenship or permanent residency, age over 18, a suitable active ABN and a bank account. Organisations/groups have relevant Queensland business-address and statutory requirements. Current staff, grant-reporting, prior round funding and conflict rules also apply.

ARTFORM ELIGIBILITY AND EXCLUSIONS — New visual artworks, original exhibitions, creative design and the presentation of new artistic work may be considered. The official funding page expressly states that applications for film, screen and games are INELIGIBLE and recommends Screen Queensland for those. Large equipment and software purchases, infrastructure, ordinary organisation operating costs and already funded activities also have specific restrictions.

NEW WORK AND CULTURAL PERMISSIONS — The fund looks for artistic originality and clear impact in Queensland communities. Work involving someone else's photographs, recorded performances, sampled music or Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property must include an appropriate permissions and consultation plan. Collaboration with significant Australian or international artists can be eligible if the core Queensland project's terms are satisfied.

WHAT TO INCLUDE — The compulsory materials listed by Arts Queensland include the key artists' CVs, up to three appropriate work samples, letters from project partners and a realistic evaluation plan. Projects with an audience need marketing details, and projects involving communities must show consultation. A budget that asks Arts Queensland to pay 100% of costs is expressly ineligible.

ABOUT ARTS QUEENSLAND — Arts Queensland is the Queensland Government's arts programme administrator, and the fund supports its Time to Shine cultural strategy. Different grant streams are assessed on project quality, public and professional impact, viable budgeting and sustainable value.

OFFICIAL ELIGIBILITY AND DATES — https://www.arts.qld.gov.au/funding-opportunities/funding/queensland-arts-project-fund . Reviewed 22 October 2026. This is a future open round; do not file an application under an expired Round 3 form or present the grants as funding for game production.
