Overview

Screen Australia is selecting up to eight early-to-mid career Australian gamemakers for its Future Leaders Delegation to BitSummit 2027 in Kyoto. Delegates will attend the independent games event from 21 to 23 May 2027, exhibit a game on the Australia stand and take part in mentoring, networking and marketplace activity. This is a funded professional-development opportunity, not an employment vacancy.

Who can apply

An individual applicant must be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident. A company applicant must be incorporated, carry on business in Australia and have its central management and control in Australia, nominating one delegate. Applicants must have an active Australian Business Number, meet GST requirements where applicable and control the rights needed to present the project publicly.

The proposed delegate must have released or published at least one game on a public platform, be actively working on a game that will be ready for public presentation by the event dates, be available for the Kyoto travel period and the mid-April 2027 pre-departure workshop in Melbourne, and must not have joined a previous Screen Australia Future Leaders Delegation.

Support and programme

Each successful applicant will receive $6,000 toward flights, accommodation, event tickets, ground transport and meals. Screen Australia will also provide pre-departure and on-the-ground support through workshops, presentations, mentoring and networking. Domestic travel costs for the Melbourne workshop are covered separately. Applicants should read the programme guidelines and FAQs for the full financial, accessibility and participation conditions.

Deadline and application

Applications close at 5:00 pm AEDT on Thursday 5 November 2026. Applications are submitted through Screen Australia’s application portal and must address every eligibility and assessment criterion, include the required supporting material and provide a functional playable build of the current project.

This article is an independent summary, not the official call. Always confirm the current guidelines, eligibility, application form and deadline on the organiser’s website before applying.

Information verified: 13 October 2026.
