Screen Queensland's MARKET AND TRAVEL FUND helps Queensland-based film, television and online-screen professionals attend professional markets and conferences to secure partnerships, project finance and audience or international industry access. The fund supports professional pitching activity rather than funding the production of a completed film. Games practitioners have a separate Games Market and Travel pathway.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION PORTAL INTERRUPTION — Screen Queensland announced on 21 October 2026 that SmartyGrants CLOSES TO APPLICATIONS on MONDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2026 at 9am AEST, and the new portal accepts available funding programme submissions again from MONDAY 7 DECEMBER 2026. UNFINISHED DRAFT FORMS WILL NOT TRANSFER. Funded travel planned around this transition requires immediate consultation with Screen Queensland; rolling availability does NOT mean an application can be filed through the closed portal in November.

ROLLING SUBMISSION RULE — Outside the portal transition, Market and Travel support accepts applications at any time of year, but they must be received AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS BEFORE DEPARTURE. The agency assesses applications competitively. An event occurring only a few days after the submission date does not meet the stated ordinary timing.

WHO MAY APPLY — Professional screen practitioners and teams who are AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS OR PERMANENT RESIDENTS and bona fide QUEENSLAND RESIDENTS. The fund targets people with screen or game projects to represent at suitable professional markets. If pitching film or TV internationally, a slate of at least THREE projects is normally expected; one project can be sufficient for domestic or special-circumstance travel.

AMOUNT FOR INDIVIDUALS — Up to A$1,000 for an Australian domestic market, up to A$3,500 in the Asia-Pacific region, or up to A$5,000 for markets outside Asia Pacific. These are ceilings, not fixed awards and depend on budget evidence and eligibility.

AMOUNT FOR TEAMS — Up to A$1,500 domestic, A$5,000 for Asia-Pacific markets, and A$7,500 for markets beyond Asia Pacific. The support is for travel, accommodation, eligible ground transport and event registration; it is not an unqualified grant to buy equipment or commercial game IP.

BUSINESS CASE — Applicants should prepare a meeting itinerary, target investors, producers, buyers or festival professionals, examples of the screen projects being pitched, commercial or artistic relevance, CVs of all travelling members, and a realistic budget. The agency requires demonstrated rights or chain of title to the projects in the applicant's slate.

STATE AGENCY AND SAFETY — Screen Queensland invests in development, production, training and industry market access. Its official funding site and 21 October portal-change notice explain both the eligibility rules and the temporary system shutdown; use these institutional sources, not old third-party links that send applicants to an inactive SmartyGrants draft.

OFFICIAL PROGRAMME — https://screenqueensland.com.au/travel-market-fund/ . PORTAL TRANSITION NOTICE — https://screenqueensland.com.au/sq-news/new-screen-queensland-funding-portal-2026/ . Checked 23 October 2026; please confirm any upcoming flight with the funder before spending money.
