Canon Singapore's 2026 #iamkyosei contest invites residents to celebrate the everyday people who help a community. Entrants use an original Instagram photograph, carousel or short video/Reel to introduce someone who represents Kyosei, Canon's idea of living and working together for the common good. This is a visual storytelling contest rather than an unrestricted image-generation contest: nominees must be real people and the photo or video must be original, with permission from the person featured.

Exactly who can enter

The entrant must be a SINGAPORE RESIDENT aged 16 or older, maintain a public Instagram account, and be able to collect a prize at a location designated by Canon Singapore. People under 18 need parental or guardian consent. Canon employees and related appointed agencies and immediate family are excluded. Nominees should be clearly identifiable, reasonably contactable for verification, and willing to be featured. Self-nomination is not allowed. These conditions make the competition country-restricted despite its visibility on the public worldwide web.

Three closing dates, not one single judging round

The campaign runs from 1 October to 31 December 2026, 11:59pm Singapore time. Cycle 1 includes posts submitted 1–31 October; Cycle 2 runs 1–30 November; Cycle 3 runs 1–31 December. Each cycle chooses one winning nominator-and-nominee pair. The three winning pairs proceed to consideration for the Grand Prize during January 2027, with the overall winning pair scheduled to be announced by 29 January 2027. An entrant should post within the relevant monthly cycle rather than waiting until year-end to enter a previous month's round.

Required original images, Instagram tags and story

First follow @canonkyoseiasia. Publish a genuine photo or short video showing the person nominated, explain what they have done and how their contribution embodies Kyosei, tag the nominee and @canonkyoseiasia where possible, and include the hashtag #iamkyosei. The Instagram account and entry must remain publicly visible during assessment. Multiple entries can feature different nominees, but an individual nominator is eligible to win only one cycle prize. It is the entrant's responsibility to obtain permission for portraits, music, third-party visuals and identifying information.

Artificial intelligence and prizes

The rules do NOT permit AI-generated or synthetic images or the use of generative AI to create, replace or substantially alter image content. Ordinary exposure and colour adjustment, sharpening and camera-side AI autofocus are permitted. Canon may ask for RAW files or metadata to verify authorship. In each monthly winning pair, both the nominator and nominee receive a Canon SELPHY QX20 mobile printer bundle. One overall winning pair is then selected for Canon camera prizes, subject to the rules; prizes cannot be exchanged for cash and their exact models may depend on organiser confirmation.

About Canon Singapore and the contest's authenticity

Canon Singapore is the national consumer and imaging technology business of Canon, with photography, printing and visual imaging activities. Its official campaign page publishes the 2026 contest terms, monthly timelines, privacy requirements and original @canonkyoseiasia identity. Winners are contacted via direct message from that official account. Canon explicitly warns it will not ask winners to send a payment, password or one-time security code to claim prizes. This helps distinguish legitimate correspondence from impersonation or scams.

Rights, consent and official rules

Canon may use shortlisted or winning photos and interviews in related publicity under its campaign terms. If a nominee is a minor, obtain the appropriate parent or guardian permission before the photograph or story becomes public. Selected pairs may need to join a follow-up interview, written response or video in January. Read the full terms for usage rights, image permissions, proof of residency and in-person prize collection before posting; making a public story cannot guarantee a prize.
