DBA Design Effectiveness Awards 2027: Global Entry for Proven Design Impact by December 1
The Design Business Association's Design Effectiveness Awards invites entries for its 2027 program from teams that can demonstrate what their design work actually achieved. The deadline is 1 December 2026 at 17:00 GMT. Rather than evaluating a product, identity or digital interface only for appearance, the judges look for a credible connection between design decisions and measurable commercial, organizational or social outcomes.
Why this is different from a portfolio award
A well-designed app, service journey, brand experience or interactive system may be relevant if the applicant can document its impact. Teams should explain the starting problem, their design contribution, the deployment context and the results that followed. Carefully attributed user research, adoption data, engagement changes or comparable metrics will be stronger than unsupported statements that a redesign was successful.
Entry requirements and considerable fees
The published non-member entry fee is £1,120 plus VAT. DBA members have different allowances, including an initial eligible entry under the membership arrangement and an additional entry fee listed at £595 plus VAT. Eligibility and the rate depend on membership and entry circumstances; confirm the current fee breakdown in the application portal. This is an award application, not a grant, and entrants should not expect a cash payment simply for being shortlisted.
How to build a persuasive case study
A useful submission should separate the challenge, project intervention and independently understandable evidence of results. The organizer also distinguishes anonymized judging material from content prepared for publication, so permissions to share client data and commercially sensitive figures must be reviewed in advance.
The association is a longstanding UK professional body for design businesses, and this established program concentrates specifically on design's effectiveness. Its costs and evidence burden make it best suited to teams with complete post-launch results, rather than creators seeking support for a concept that has not yet been implemented.
