FilmGate Interactive 13 is accepting international projects for its 19–24 March 2027 festival in Miami and Miami Beach. Presented by FilmGate Miami, the event features interactive and immersive storytelling in museums, public spaces and partner venues. Eligible work ranges from VR, AR and mixed reality to games, interactive documentary, dome environments, generative and AI-based media, sound installations and responsive public art. The regular submission deadline is 20 December 2026; a later-entry route remains open until 18 January 2027.

Which projects are eligible?

The official call seeks fiction and nonfiction projects that are interactive, immersive or genuinely multiplatform; a conventional film is not automatically suitable unless submitted to an appropriate specific film category. There is no published nationality restriction and projects of all lengths are considered. Non-English works must arrive with English subtitles—not simply a separate dialogue list. Works-in-progress must be finished before exhibition.

  • Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality experiences.

  • Interactive and multimedia installations, public immersive works and dome environments.

  • Games, applications, interactive shorts, features and documentaries.

  • Selected AI-based visual stories and immersive sound-led experiences, where permitted by the chosen entry category.

Fees and dates

The festival's FilmFreeway listing shows a standard submission fee of US$35 for core categories at the regular 20 December deadline, rising to US$50 for late applications by 18 January 2027. An early-bird tier of US$25 closed 27 September 2026. Fees for exhibitor booths, panels or other special categories can be much higher, so read the fee displayed for the exact category before paying. Selection notifications are scheduled for 1 February 2027.

A technical rider matters

Alongside a project description, applicants must provide an estimated production or installation budget, technical rider, spatial requirements and realistic setup and rehearsal times. Useful supporting material includes a video walkthrough, footage of audience interaction, installation photos or gameplay capture. The organiser reserves the right to withdraw a selection where installation costs or technical requirements exceed the feasible budget or site.

Festival background and rights

FilmGate Miami runs festivals, media labs, exhibitions and professional-development programmes linking storytellers and technologists. Its organisers list prior international showcases and events in several Miami venues. Awards include the festival's PINK KRAKEN distinctions, but jury honours and funding are not guaranteed. Selected creators sign a presentation agreement confirming that they own the necessary rights and clearances; physical shipments require customs paid in advance.
