FIVARS 2027 Calls Worldwide for VR, AR, Immersive Sound and Interactive Narratives
The opportunity
FIVARS, the Festival of International Virtual & Augmented Reality Stories, invites immersive storytelling projects from around the globe for its 2027 hybrid programme. In-person presentations are scheduled for February 22–23 in Los Angeles, followed by an online theatre from February 24 to March 9. VR, MR, AR, interactive installations, 360-degree video, WebXR, spatial sound and live virtual performance are all relevant.
Eligibility and selection
The organizer separates passive immersive playback, interactive narrative, live virtual performance, physical installation and other spatial forms. Submitters must detail hardware, operating systems, session or reset duration, staffing, accessibility and safety warnings. Anyone under the legal age of majority needs a parent or guardian to submit on their behalf. Earlier screenings are permitted, but works completed before March 1, 2026 or previously submitted to FIVARS are not award-eligible even if accepted for exhibition.
Application and requirements
Apply through FilmFreeway with a working review link, build or file and clear access instructions. All required access must remain active until February 1, 2027. Projects whose essential dialogue or text is not in English need English captions, dubbing or another accepted access option. In-person and online presentation decisions are separate; an exhibition agreement is required if selected.
Deadlines, fees and important conditions
The regular deadline is November 24, 2026, followed by late December 24 and extended January 24, 2027 deadlines. The regular standard fee is US$60 in the main immersive categories and US$70 for Other; eligible students pay less. Fees are generally non-refundable. The festival announces design, impact, sound and jury awards, but submission alone guarantees neither a monetary prize nor artist fees, flights, hotels or technical reimbursements.
