The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has opened its 2026/27 Concrete in Life international photography competition. The brief is unusually practical: photograph concrete as it appears in daily living, striking buildings or infrastructure, human encounters with urban space, or artistic design. The competition is open worldwide and closes on 4 December 2026 at 23:59 GMT.

Entry is free. According to the official rules, candidates must be eighteen or older at registration and submit an original photo they created themselves. Smartphone photos are accepted alongside professional-camera work. The three announced categories are Urban and Infrastructure, Concrete in Daily Life, and Concrete Beauty and Design. Entrants should select the category that best matches the subject rather than mislabeling a work merely to increase perceived chances.

The overall best photo receives US$10,000. Each of the three category winners can receive US$2,500, and a separate public-vote award is listed at US$5,000. Crucially, prizes do not stack: a person who is selected for more than one award receives only the highest-value prize. These are winner awards, not payments for everyone whose photo is shortlisted.

The rules specifically exclude AI-generated images and require a photograph taken using a camera or smartphone. The organizer may ask for originals or metadata to check authenticity. If recognizable people appear, entrants must have appropriate permission to use their likeness and be able to demonstrate it. Copyright and privacy requirements are especially relevant to photographs featuring public life and architecture.

GCCA is a trade association representing the cement and concrete sector, not an anonymous photography portal. Its annual contest has run for several years, showing earlier winners from around the world; the 2026/27 edition continues this program with a jury of creative and industry professionals. Applicants should review the usage rights the organization reserves for submitted and winning images.
