IEEE VR 2027 XR Gallery Invites Unexhibited Interactive XR Art from Creators Worldwide
Opportunity overview
IEEE VR 2027 has opened its XR Gallery call for the Melbourne, Australia conference under the theme 'Sharing Realities: Immersive Experiences Across Boundaries'. The exhibition emphasizes interactive virtual, augmented and mixed-reality installations, while welcoming digital performances and experimental experiences about people, time, space and technology.
Eligibility
The organizers state that the call is open to anyone interested in artistic content, including artists, researchers and designers worldwide. A strict restriction applies: the proposed artwork must not have been formally exhibited anywhere else before. Prior public exhibition of the same piece would make it ineligible.
Tracks and work requirements
Applicants upload a roughly 1,000-word anonymized abstract, a representative image, a masked video sample of up to five minutes and 150 MB, and details of space and equipment needs such as headsets, screens, sound and networking. A supplementary portfolio is optional. IEEE rules require disclosure when generative AI was used in a submitted article or its visuals or code.
Deadline and application
The proposal deadline is November 3, 2026 at 23:59:59 Anywhere on Earth (UTC−12). Submission uses the Precision Conference System for IEEE VR. Initial shortlisting is scheduled for December 1, final decisions January 7, 2027 and a final camera-ready paper by January 12.
Fees, benefits and important conditions
Accepted exhibits are presented in the XR Gallery during IEEE VR 2027 and receive one complimentary full conference registration per accepted entry. Only some selected installations may additionally receive US$500 based on competitive and demonstrated need, which includes contributions to accommodation or representation costs. It is not a guaranteed payment to everyone. A one- to two-page final paper in the official IEEE template is required.
