A design-sector grant with a digital creative component

The NSW Government's 2026–27 Quick Response Fashion Grant Program supports emerging fashion and textile designers and related creative businesses with grants of up to A$10,000. It is administered by Create NSW and is open until Thursday 19 November 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Sydney time (AEDT), with applications assessed in monthly tranches.

For Aion Laboratory readers, the program's connection to digital practice is specific rather than unlimited. Eligible creative technology may include computer equipment and software used directly in fashion or textile design, professional photography equipment, digital lookbooks and portfolios. It does not fund general game development, independent film projects or unrelated gallery work merely because a designer uses a computer.

Two funding categories: choose only one

Applicants must choose either Professional Development or Purchase of Equipment. Professional development may include specialist short courses, conferences, design-sector networking, industry memberships, relevant trade fairs, portfolios, competitions and related travel. Equipment can include computers, suitable creative software, cameras, production tools and textile-manufacturing resources directly linked to professional work.

The funding cap is A$10,000, not an automatic award. Marketing campaigns, social-media advertising, ordinary event-hire and catering, debt repayment, land purchase, and spending toward a degree programme are among the ineligible costs. Applicants should distinguish a finished fashion lookbook from general paid advertising when preparing their budget.

Who can apply?

Eligible applicants are emerging NSW-based fashion and textile designers, fashion-industry practitioners and businesses developing original fashion products, textile prints, or related designs. The government describes an emerging independent design practice as one in roughly its first five years with evidence of professional activity.

An individual applicant must be aged 18 or older, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have lived in New South Wales for at least 12 months. Eligible businesses and partnerships must be based in NSW, and applications need an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and a matching-name Australian bank account. A foreign designer without a qualifying NSW presence cannot assume that this state-specific grant is open worldwide.

Dates, monthly batches and project timing

The programme opened 17 August 2026 and uses a series of monthly assessment tranches. One tranche closes on Thursday 29 October 2026 and the final tranche closes Thursday 19 November 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Applications in each tranche are considered together. Applicants can submit only one application per tranche and at most two eligible applications per financial year.

Projects cannot begin earlier than five weeks after the end of the relevant tranche and must conclude by 31 December 2027. Designers with travel, fashion shows or equipment deadlines should check the funding-decision schedule before paying suppliers; expenses incurred prematurely are generally excluded.

Proof of cost and risk checks

The organiser may ask for invoices, supplier quotations, contracts and evidence that equipment or courses are necessary for a real design business. Eligible applications are assessed competitively for industry impact, cost reasonableness and feasibility. The programme has a total funding allocation of A$500,000, including A$250,000 earmarked for First Nations, Western Sydney and regional NSW applicants.

Applicants should use the official application platform, verify ABN and banking information, and avoid anybody charging a 'guaranteed fashion grant' brokerage fee. Not every eligible applicant will be selected.

Organizer background and official application

This program forms part of its Fashion Sector Strategy 2025–2028 and is backed by published government funding rules, monthly closing dates, official FAQs and assessment procedures.
