OPENFEED 2026–27 Invites Digital Artists Worldwide to Phy-Digital Residency
A global media-art residency
FEED Media Art Center and Erie Art Company in Pennsylvania are accepting worldwide proposals for OPENFEED 2026–27. The 'phy-digital' virtual residency connects remote creative development to online exhibitions, physical installations and community engagement in Erie, rather than requiring artists to relocate for the full production period.
Practices welcomed
Eligible digital and experimental practices include interactive installations, generative art, sound and video art, software art, kinetic sculpture, circuit bending, robotics, light art, bio-responsive works, performances and participatory workshops. All subject matters are considered except hate speech and discriminatory content.
Three stages of the programme
The proposed virtual residency combines remote concept development, a mentored fabrication and critique period, then presentation through online and on-site exhibition and public engagement. The organizers describe access to computing resources, high-end hardware, software licenses and ongoing professional mentorship.
Dates and how to apply
Applications are invited from October 1, 2026 to February 28, 2027. The official Jotform asks for contact information, artistic media, a project description, preferred exhibition or performance date, interest in the residency and whether the work incorporates AI or language models. Portfolio links and uploaded work samples are optional.
Financial and scheduling disclosures
Specific workshop and exhibition dates have not yet been announced. The public call does not state a guaranteed cash stipend, travel reimbursement, a fixed number of residents or a definite application fee. Applicants should review any terms presented when completing the official submission rather than assuming payment or funding is available.
