Technarte 2027: Global AI, XR and Interactive Art Speaker Call in Bilbao
About the event
Technarte is looking for artists and creative technologists to speak at its 21st international Art and Technology Conference in Bilbao, Spain, on May 21, 2027. The event connects creative practice with science and technological experimentation. This is a competitive call for speakers to present their own ideas and research to an international audience, rather than an automatic exhibition slot, artwork acquisition programme or cash-prize competition.
Eligibility and artistic fields
Eligible interests include generative and AI art, new media art, interactive architecture or sculpture, human-computer interaction, immersive virtual environments, augmented and virtual reality, data art, sonification, robotics, bioart, wearables and innovative 3D processes. The official organiser welcomes speakers from around the world. A strong submission should explain not only which tools it uses, but also what distinctive artistic and conceptual possibilities the technical project opens.
Application requirements
Apply through the official Technarte Evaluation Management System. At the initial stage it requires the applicant and speaker details, a project title, an abstract and presentation summary. A finished talk or slide deck is not required yet. Importantly, the abstract, accompanying papers and eventual presentation must be in English. Applicants can revise and resubmit before closing, but only the latest submitted version is assessed; proposals merely saved as platform drafts will not enter selection.
Deadline, fees and invited-speaker support
The deadline is October 15, 2026 at 23:59 in the Europe/Brussels timezone, with results expected within approximately four weeks. The call is advertised as free to enter. Selected speakers receive conference access including refreshments and meals, an invitation to the informal opening gathering and limited travel expense support. Do not assume full airfare, hotel or a fixed speaking fee without checking the specific contemporary agreement. Being eligible to submit does not guarantee selection.
