Open Call is The Shed’s program supporting NYC-based early-career artists across a wide range of disciplines. Selected projects receive a commissioning fee of up to USD $15,000 per artist or collective and are co-produced in close collaboration with The Shed’s artistic and production teams.
The program welcomes proposals for new work in visual arts, theater, dance, music, performance, spoken word, literary arts, film, fashion, art and technology, new media, social practice, and public art and architecture, including interdisciplinary and experimental practices. The Shed centers Black, POC, people with disabilities, and other communities historically excluded and disproportionately impacted by structural inequities.
Eligibility Requirements:
Early-career artists or collectives
Age 18+
Currently living or working in New York City
Able to provide a W-9 for payment
Open to artists with or without formal arts training
Commission Support:
Up to USD $15,000 per selected project
Collaborative development with The Shed’s teams
