Wyndham City Council in Victoria, Australia has announced its 2027 Wyndham Arts Grants. The Creative Development and Skills Development categories are restricted to applicants who live in Wyndham City, offering up to A$3,000 per supported project. Filmmaking, screen art, visual art and other creative practice may be relevant where the proposal fits the official grant guidelines.

Application dates and grant categories

Applications open at 9:00am on Wednesday 28 October 2026 and close at 3:00pm on Friday 27 November 2026, local Victoria time. Both Creative Development and Skills Development support amounts of up to A$3,000. A different Presentation category offers up to A$5,000 and can accept applicants based outside Wyndham if the funded outcome takes place within Wyndham. This article concerns only the first two residence-restricted categories and should not be read as imposing their residence rule on the Presentation category.

Who is eligible for the local development grants?

Applicants must be aged 18 or older and, for the two categories discussed here, live in Wyndham City. They must speak with a Wyndham Arts & Culture officer about their proposal before submitting. The council excludes its own staff, councillors and their immediate families, applicants who have not satisfactorily reported on prior council funding, and those under certain bankruptcy or insolvency circumstances. Compliant projects must meet the council's published legal and grant terms.

Supported creative work and selection

The Creative Development grant supports researching, planning, testing and developing new projects intended for later presentation. The Skills Development grant helps with mentorship, courses, specialist assistance or testing new techniques. Among published 2026 examples are support for a local short film, a visual artist's public-art mentoring and an exhibition research project. Assessment considers eligibility, alignment with the grant objectives, creative merits, delivery capability and a feasible budget and timeline.

About the organiser and 2026 grant record

Wyndham City Council operates an arts and culture programme including exhibitions, artist residencies and the LIT digital-art event in Wyndham Park. The 2027 grants have a total pool of A$40,000. The council lists named 2026 creative and skills development recipients and their projects on the official programme page, providing a verifiable record of the annual funding scheme.

Official application route

Council instructs applicants to read the 2027 guidelines, consult an arts officer, prepare a budget and supporting materials and lodge the form through SmartyGrants during the open window. The council's published email is arts@wyndham.vic.gov.au. Successful applicants sign an agreement and report on outcomes. Individual award amounts remain subject to assessment and may be less than the maximum.
