Experimental Forum 2027: International Experimental Film, Video Art and Animation Entries Due December 20
Experimental Forum has opened global submissions to the 2027 edition of its experimental film and video art festival. The final FilmFreeway deadline is December 20, 2026, with the event scheduled for February 7, 2027. The organizer accepts experimental cinema, artists' moving images, narrative and documentary forms that challenge conventions, animation, short films, music videos, and new media or web series. Filmmakers anywhere in the world may apply in any language.
Old films, new work and diverse formats
The organizer specifically accepts both older and recently completed works, including pieces that have already screened at other festivals. It looks beyond conventional mainstream cinema for individual aesthetics, bold experiments, essay films and gallery-oriented moving images. Award and program categories include Best Video Art Film, Best Animation Short, Best Experimental Short and Feature, Best New Media/Web Series, Best Vertical Video and several other forms. Select the category that accurately describes the work.
Three remaining submission deadlines
As of October 24, 2026, the remaining FilmFreeway schedule includes October 30 as Late Deadline 2, November 20 as Late Deadline 3, and December 20 as the final submission date. Notifications are due January 8, 2027. Submission fees depend on the running-time and category selected and are shown in the live FilmFreeway form; do not assume that the earlier lower fees remain valid or that selection includes travel funding.
What creators should prepare
A credible entry needs a screener that the jury can view, the film's running time and production year, a description of the creative approach, valid contact information and assurance that music, archival imagery and audiovisual components are properly licensed for public screening. Because earlier screenings do not bar submission, artists can use an existing experimental portfolio film instead of rushing an unfinished production.
About the festival
Experimental Forum describes itself as an international film and video-art platform that has operated for ten years and is committed to emerging and underrepresented creators. Its official FilmFreeway listing includes previous filmmaker reviews, festival dates, category names, and application fees. This is a festival selection opportunity, not guaranteed paid distribution, a production grant or an artist salary.
Next pricing checkpoint: October 30, 2026. Final deadline: December 20, 2026. Festival: February 7, 2027.
