Emerging photographers working with both traditional and newer image-making methods can apply for the 2027 John Chervinsky Emerging Photographer Scholarship from the Griffin Museum of Photography. Applications close on 6 November 2026 at 11:59 p.m. US Mountain Time; the museum says the 2027 window opened on 5 October 2026.

The scholarship awards $3,000 to an emerging photographic artist, offers an exhibition of the selected work at the museum and a book from John Chervinsky's personal photography library. The award seeks artists with the potential to develop a substantial body of work and sustain solo exhibitions.

The eligibility description explicitly includes digital media, moving images, AI and digital collage. This makes the programme relevant to contemporary digital-image practitioners, not only traditional print photographers. Applicants should nonetheless confirm the current prospectus and applicable authorship or rights requirements before submitting AI-assisted material.

About the organizer: the Griffin Museum in Winchester, Massachusetts is an established photography museum operating exhibitions and artist-development programmes. Its scholarship pages identify prior awardees, jury information and details of public exhibitions, helping entrants verify the opportunity independently.

This is distinct from the museum's Richards Family Prize for mid-career professionals. The Chervinsky award is intended for emerging artists. The public call page does not state that entry is free, so fee or waiver questions should be answered from the actual application form.
