Sounds of the Future Residency 2027: Denmark Sound Art Lab Offers DKK 30,000, Apply by November 6
Three weeks for experimental sound practice
Sound Art Lab's Sounds of the Future Residency invites artists to deepen sound-based work in a production environment in Struer, Denmark. The current call offers a three-week residency, an artist work grant of DKK 30,000 and access to dedicated studios, technical equipment and workshops. The programme is designed for artistic research and making rather than a standard concert or recording commission.
Eligibility: a meaningful Danish connection
The official announcement addresses artists living in Denmark or strongly connected to the Danish sound-art community. A separate Koda Kultur programme description says both individuals and groups can apply, but applicants still need a strong association with Denmark's sound-art scene, and the award amount does not increase automatically for groups. Applicants in education or training are excluded by Koda's programme criteria. Do not interpret the call as an unrestricted worldwide travel grant.
Support and facilities
Sound Art Lab provides an individual work space, access to professional audio production equipment and studios, workshop facilities and accommodation in the artist apartment. The headline grant is DKK 30,000 across three weeks, not DKK 30,000 per week. Artists should budget separately for any travel or project expenses not expressly covered. Presentations and knowledge exchange with the local artistic community are part of the residency context.
Deadline and temporary portal interruption
The organizer's 2026 call gives 6 November 2026 at 23:59 as the application deadline. It also warns that Koda's application portal is unavailable from 17 October through 1 November because of a platform transition. Because another general Koda information page carries a different recurring deadline, check the currently active call and the newly reopened application portal on 1 November rather than relying on an archived schedule.
Who runs it and how to apply
The project is a collaboration among Sound Art Lab, the Danish Composers' Society and SPOR festival, supported by Koda Kultur and regional cultural funding. These are named cultural organisations with active sound-art programmes. Start from the official Sound Art Lab announcement and follow its current application link; prepare a project concept, CV, sound portfolio and preferred residency dates. Information checked 24 October 2026; the organizer's updated terms control.
