Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden 2027–28 Artist Residency: Nature, Art and Community in Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden seeks international artists, performers and writers for two-to-six-week nature-led residencies in 2027–28. Apply by 1 November 2026.
An arts residency grounded in Hong Kong’s ecology
Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG), the conservation and environmental-education organization in Tai Po, Hong Kong, invites artists, performers and writers to propose work exploring biodiversity, sustainability, habitat, ecology or community. Its living landscape, botanic gardens and conservation programs are intended as a setting for site-responsive artistic research and public exchange.
Residency dates and commitments
Selected artists will stay for two to six weeks during the wider residency period of 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2028. Artists are expected to produce or develop new work at KFBG, present it publicly and facilitate at least two workshops or other activities engaging the public. The schedule is set around individual projects rather than one shared two-month cohort.
Who is eligible?
Both Hong Kong-based and international artists aged 18 or older may apply. The organizer requires spoken Cantonese and/or English proficiency, a meaningful connection between the proposed practice and the KFBG mission, and a willingness to engage with visitors or community participants. Interdisciplinary projects, performance and creative writing are welcome alongside visual art.
Support and costs
KFBG says selected artists will receive financial support for creating artwork, reimbursed during or after the residency, and that it will cover promotion costs for workshops and exhibitions. The official page does not promise a fixed stipend, flights or all living costs; clarify any practical financial arrangements directly with the organizer.
How to apply by 1 November
Send application materials by email to the organizer’s contact named on the official call, Ms Alice Lam, by 1 November 2026. These include an artist statement, CV, residency proposal, language information, expectations and contributions, up to ten work images and selected portfolio links. Shortlisted applicants are expected to be interviewed between 16 November and 31 December; results are due on 25 January 2027.
