NewImages Fulldome Competition 2027: Global 360° Dome Films, €3,000 Award and December 22 Deadline
What native fulldome means
NewImages Festival in France is inviting native fulldome works for its 2027 Fulldome Competition. The call concerns experiences designed specifically for 360-degree dome projection, rather than ordinary rectangular video, standard headset VR or works submitted to the festival's separate free Virtual Worlds competition. Immersive audiovisual creators may propose dome-native pieces that use architecture, moving images and sound as an integrated environment.
Deadline and fee tiers
Early-bird submissions close on 10 December 2026. The standard fee at that stage is €75, reduced to €45 in the Individual Talent category for eligible student or self-produced projects. The final submission window runs through 22 December 2026, with standard fees rising to €100 or €60 for eligible Individual Talent entries. Fulldome submissions are paid; the fact that Virtual Worlds is free does not make this category free.
Eligible works and awards
Eligible works must be native fulldome productions completed after 2023; a premiere is not required. Selected works are to be shown within the official NewImages Festival 2027 Fulldome Competition and become eligible for the €3,000 Dome Award. Selection also brings two complimentary festival accreditations and international visibility. These are not unconditional cash grants, and the competition page does not promise blanket travel and accommodation reimbursement.
Organiser and official submission
NewImages is an independent French nonprofit that supports immersive creation through festivals and industry initiatives. Its official portal separates the Fulldome Competition from XR Competition, Virtual Worlds and professional markets, each with different prices and purposes. Read the relevant regulations before paying, and confirm that your master is suitable for native 360-degree projection.
