- Westmorland and Furness Together Through the Lens 2026: Local Photos Due 1 November
Westmorland and Furness Council in North West England is inviting local residents, workers and students to contribute digital photographs and brief personal stories to its free Together Through the Lens community project. Selected images form part of a permanent online gallery and a local touring exhibition, aiming to document the people and places of the council area rather than rank pictures in a conventional cash-prize photography competition. Eligibility and deadline Individual entrants must live, work or study in Westmorland and Furness. That geographical affiliation is a mandatory local restriction: photographers with no connection to the district are not eligible simply because they can email a photo. The submission deadline is Sunday 1 November 2026. The project opened for entries on 1 October, with the online gallery scheduled to open on 16 November and community exhibitions beginning 30 November, subject to changes. Digital format, number of photographs and text Individuals may submit up to three original photographs in JPG/JPEG format, no more than 10MB for each image. Screenshots are specifically excluded. Each image should have a title, the location where it was taken and a short explanation or personal story of at most 100 words. The subject can be family and friendships, community activities, hobbies, landmarks, local wildlife or everyday moments that express why the area matters to the participant. Originality, consent and rights Photographers retain their copyright, and participation is free. Entrants must obtain consent from people recognisable in images where legally or ethically appropriate; photos of children under 18 require parental or guardian permission. The Council's full project conditions and privacy notice apply to the online gallery and exhibition. This is not a request for a proprietary RAW file, and an Instagram-only post is not a substitute for the specified online submission process. About the organizer and public exhibit Westmorland and Furness Council is the local authority for the area including South Cumbria. The project is supported and funded by the Westmorland and Furness Community Safety Partnership, which brings local bodies together around safer, stronger communities. Together Through the Lens is designed to build a lasting visual record of belonging, community pride and shared identity. The Council hosts the primary conditions and individual submission link on its own website. How to enter Use the official individual submission form linked from the Council page; groups and charities have a separate organisation submission route. Prepare up to three compressed JPG files and stories before starting, and check that contact and media permissions are accurate. Applications are subject to the Council's terms; the announcement does not claim a prize payment for every accepted work. - Hay Shire Youth Art & Photography Postcard Competition 2026: Local Digital Creators Under 31
Hay Shire Council in regional New South Wales, Australia has launched a Youth Art & Photography Postcard Competition under the theme Love Hay. Children, teens and young adults can celebrate the region's places and people through original art, photography and digital designs. Selected work may be turned into promotional postcards for visitors, so this is a real creative-design opportunity rather than merely a social-media hashtag campaign. Applicants: Hay Shire residents aged 30 or under The competition is open to people who reside in Hay Shire and are aged 30 years or younger, with categories catering from preschool through to young adults. The deadline is 5pm on Monday 23 November 2026. Because the council explicitly restricts the applicant's residence to Hay Shire, an artist living elsewhere in Australia or internationally should not assume they are eligible. The official competition terms and entry form govern how residency and age are verified. What artworks are sought? The official call specifically invites cameras, sketchbooks, paintbrushes and DIGITAL tools. Its Love Hay theme includes local landscapes such as the Hay Plains and Murrumbidgee River, wildlife, agriculture, historic locations, community events and ordinary moments of regional life. A photograph, graphic illustration or digital artwork can qualify if it complies with the art or photography category and with the work-format rules in the Council's downloadable conditions. Competition categories and prizes The award divisions include Artwork Preschool (gift), Artwork Primary School and Secondary School (A$50 Love Hay gift card each), Artwork Young Adults (A$100 gift card), Photography Preschool and Primary School (A$50), Photography Secondary School (A$50) and Photography Young Adults (A$100). Selected entries may be professionally reproduced as postcards. The announcement does not specify a guaranteed printing run or cash equivalent beyond the stated gift cards. Hay Shire Council's local history and purpose Hay Shire Council is the elected local government authority based in Hay, NSW. It runs community and tourism programmes and maintains the official Council noticeboard and Hay Visitor Centre. The postcard competition aims to promote a recognizable visual identity for Hay and offer young residents a showcase. It is posted as an official Council opportunity dated 15 October 2026 with entry forms and conditions, giving applicants a verifiable public authority and legitimate submission materials. Submission route and original terms Download the relevant artwork or photography entry form and the published terms from Hay Shire Council's announcement, confirm the acceptable file or physical submission format and supply consent when the entrant is a minor. For questions, contact the Hay Visitor Centre at the telephone number shown by the council, 02 6993 4045. The Council administers judging and prize delivery. - Ireland Visual Arts Bursary 2027: Up to €20,000 for Artists — Applications Open 10 November
The Arts Council of Ireland / An Chomhairle Ealaíon has announced a Visual Arts Bursary Award for Round 1 of 2027, offering individual artists up to €20,000 to develop their practice. This is an arts-development bursary rather than a prize for submitting one finished image. Practitioners using photography, moving image and experimental digital methods should check whether their particular research and professional development goals fall within the Visual Arts team's remit. Funding and timing: opening soon The official application schedule shows Tuesday 10 November 2026 as opening day and Thursday 17 December 2026 at 5:30pm Irish time as the closing time. The maximum is €20,000 and the advertised applicant type is individual artist. As of 19 October, this programme is marked 'Opening soon', not accepting submissions yet. The Council advises downloading the 2027 guidelines and templates when released, usually about two weeks before the scheme opens. What does the bursary support? The Arts Council describes the Bursary Award as time and resources to think, research, reflect and develop a professional artistic practice. Rather than a general equipment rebate or a payment for any photographer's new portfolio, proposals should make an artistic case for professional development. Visual artists working in digital or lens-based formats should check the forthcoming Visual Arts Bursary guidelines for supported costs and any technology- or exhibition-related restrictions. Residency and eligibility cautions This is an Ireland-focused public arts programme. Published eligibility rules for earlier visual-arts bursary rounds have allowed the Council to assess limited non-resident applications where a credible benefit to Irish arts was demonstrated. Until the 2027 conditions are released, do not assume the scheme is strictly for Irish passport holders, nor that a person resident elsewhere has an unconditional right to apply. We have therefore not classified this as a verified residence-only opportunity. Information clinic on 18 November The Visual Arts team is holding an online information clinic on Wednesday 18 November 2026 at 11am. Its focus is the 2027 Round 1 application, including what the scheme supports and how to submit. Artists who are uncertain about the differences between a personal development bursary and other project funds should consult the published clinic information. National funder and previous practice The Arts Council is the national agency for developing the arts in the Republic of Ireland. Its public Visual Arts area documents support for artists working with moving images, photography and installation, including Fiona Mc Donald's digital prints and Amanda Rice's moving-image practice. The agency operates its own online application service and publishes awards information, supporting materials, contacts and funding decisions; the formal requirements can be verified on its institutional website. Official process and safe submission Use the Arts Council's Visual Arts Bursary Award Round 1 page rather than an unrelated image competition platform. Register on its authorised Online Services system and confirm the grant deadline, draft 2027 guidelines, supporting visual work samples and consent obligations. The awards@artscouncil.ie contact on the page can clarify eligibility. No funding decision or amount is assured simply because an applicant submits a proposal. - Great Aycliffe Firework Safety Poster Competition 2026: Local Children's Digital Art Entries
Great Aycliffe Town Council, County Durham, is holding a Firework Safety Poster Competition for children who live in Great Aycliffe. Digital illustration and computer-made art are accepted alongside painting, drawing, collage and craft. It is a local council creative opportunity for town residents, not a national or worldwide poster-design contest. Eligibility, age groups and deadline Entries must come from children living in Great Aycliffe and must reach the Town Council by Monday 2 November 2026 at 5pm. The five age groups are Preschool & Nursery, Reception–Year 2, Years 3–4, Years 5–6 and Year 7 and above. The council plans first, second and third prizes in each age category; its call does not specify cash values for the prizes. Digital and traditional poster designs The theme is firework safety: examples include supervising children, safe distances from fireworks, sparkler safety, pets, neighbours and careful handling. Entrants may use digital artwork as well as analogue materials. The council asks for posters carrying a clear safety message; there is no published requirement to use particular design software or a specified image-generation platform. How to submit: physical delivery The general Firework Safety Poster Competition requires completed posters to be delivered to Great Aycliffe Town Council Offices, School Aycliffe Lane, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6QF. Each entry should show the child's name, age and address clearly on the back. Digital creators should therefore prepare an appropriate physical print or other deliverable form; the general contest's page does not provide an email-only submission option. The council also operates a distinct SEND Firework Safety Poster Competition with different submission options, which must not be confused with this entry. About the organiser Great Aycliffe Town Council is the local parish council responsible for community facilities and services in the town. The 2026 Firework Safety Poster Competition is published on its official website along with other family and community announcements. The council's published address and age-category information establish the correct destination for the artwork. Entries are restricted to creators living, working or studying in Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire or the City of Coventry. This is a regional opportunity, not an international open call. Submission dates and regional eligibility Application forms must be submitted by Monday 23 November 2026. A completed online form is not a substitute for delivering the original artwork for selection. Youth-category entrants deliver work Tuesday 24 November, noon–6:45pm. Adults deliver physical work Friday 27 November, 10:30am–5pm, or Saturday 28 November, 10:30am–3:30pm. The selection panel meets on 30 November and decisions are scheduled for 1 December. Entry categories, charges and awards Adults can submit up to three works and must offer at least one for sale. The adult entry fee is £8.70 per work. Youth entrants can submit up to two works, at £5 per work. The organiser also lists bulk discounts. The overall adult prize is £1,000 with an additional £500 towards a 2027 Floor One Gallery exhibition. The main youth award is £250; various other art and community awards are listed. Photography, digital prints and format requirements The exhibition includes a range of media, from prints and paintings to textiles and three-dimensional work. Photographers and digital-image makers considering a physical print should consult the organiser's complete 2026 Terms & Conditions to check the work's precise category, installation and delivery requirements. The official summary does not establish that a downloadable digital file alone qualifies, and applicants cannot assume that video-only or online-only art is acceptable. About Rugby Art Gallery & Museum Rugby Art Gallery & Museum is a publicly run arts and heritage venue connected to Rugby Borough Council. Its continuing Rugby Open programme exhibits work by regional emerging and established artists. - Grosvenor Museum 16th Open Art Exhibition 2027: North West England and Wales Artists
Chester's Grosvenor Museum, operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council, is inviting applications for its 16th Open Art Exhibition. Artists aged over 16 who live or work in North West England or specified neighbouring counties in England and North Wales may enter. The exhibition is planned for 6 February to 4 July 2027, with applications closing at midnight on Sunday 15 November 2026. Geographical eligibility and online deadline The council lists Cumbria; Lancashire, including Merseyside and Greater Manchester; Yorkshire; Derbyshire; Staffordshire; Shropshire; and the North Wales counties of Denbighshire, Wrexham and Flintshire alongside the North West. Artists must live and/or work in the specified region. The entry process is therefore restricted to part of the United Kingdom rather than open globally. Applicants must be over 16 and can enter up to three original works. Fees, selection and exhibition The entry fee is £10 for each submitted work, non-refundable and payable with the online form. An initial judging round determines which artists are invited to deliver their original artworks for a second selection on 22 or 23 January 2027. The prizes are £1,000 for first, £500 for second, £250 for third and £150 for Visitors' Choice. The exhibition opens on 6 February 2027 and closes on 4 July 2027. Visual and digital-art considerations The Open Art Exhibition is described by the organiser as contemporary visual art in a range of media. Artists working with photography, digitally prepared prints, collage and mixed media must check the museum's current submission and exhibition conditions concerning acceptable formats and physical delivery. This announcement does not confirm that a video link or purely virtual exhibit is acceptable without a display-ready work. The museum and its previous activity The Grosvenor Museum is a long-established public museum in Chester, maintained by the local authority. The council describes this as its 16th Open Art Exhibition, held every two years, and names judges from West Cheshire Museums, Storyhouse, Ruthin Craft Centre and professional arts practice. This identifiable institutional exhibition programme is distinct from third-party online fee-collection pages. Official entry and contact The council's formal news release directs entrants to the museum's own online submission portal and explains the first and second judging stages. The £10 charge is the stated competition fee. Artists should use the council's published link for payment and read the entire 2027 exhibition conditions for insurance, sales and delivery requirements. - NHMRC Science to Art Award 2027: Submit Digitally Enhanced Research Imagery by 11 December
The Australian National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is accepting original images for its 2027 Science to Art Award. The award recognises visually compelling images generated through NHMRC-funded medical or health research. Digitally enhanced and altered images are eligible, provided the submitter explains the modifications. It is a research-imagery and visualisation award, rather than a general photography or digital-painting competition. Deadline and precise funding eligibility The official closing time is Friday 11 December 2026 at 5pm AEDT. Images must have been generated from research supported by an NHMRC grant, and the application requires the specific NHMRC grant reference number. A person without a connection to eligible NHMRC-funded work cannot treat this as an open-to-all art contest. The public form does not itself establish a blanket rule that every entrant must hold Australian nationality or live in Australia; this article does not count it as a nationality- or residence-restricted call. Digital image format and submission materials Submit one eligible image in JPG, PNG or TIF form, up to 32MB, with a title and description of no more than 200 words. The form asks whether the image has been digitally enhanced or changed and requires an explanation if so. The image rights holder must confirm ownership and give NHMRC a continuing non-exclusive licence to use the image for non-commercial purposes. A contact email is offered for technical upload difficulties; the organisers specify a minimum image resolution of 300dpi for emailed files. Award and research-art context The Science to Art Award forms part of NHMRC's biennial recognition of Australian health and medical research. The agency's 2025 winner was Associate Professor Arutha Kulasinghe of the University of Queensland, whose digital image, Battleground beneath the skin, visualised immune and cancer cells using spatial proteomics. That previous edition illustrates the type of image-based scientific practice acknowledged by the programme. The current 2027 call does not state a cash amount for its Science to Art award, so no cash prize is claimed here. About NHMRC NHMRC is Australia's national health and medical research funding and policy agency. Its website publishes both the biennial awards announcement and a dedicated Science to Art entry page, with an upload form and contact at nhmrc.awards@nhmrc.gov.au. Research ownership, any institutional permission and a potential grant's conditions must be respected when using images that contain identifiable patients or research data. Apply through the official form Entries are collected directly on the NHMRC page. Applicants supply their contact details, research image, short description, funding reference and ownership declaration. The page has at least one stale reference to an earlier award year in its licence/privacy wording; the separately published current 2027 announcement confirms the 11 December 2026 deadline. Where document wording appears inconsistent, the NHMRC awards office is the authoritative contact. - Ramsay Art Prize 2027: A$100,000 for Australian Digital, Video and Contemporary Art — 11 December
The Art Gallery of South Australia is accepting entries for the Ramsay Art Prize 2027, an acquisitive A$100,000 contemporary art award for Australian artists under 40. Submissions are not limited to painting or sculpture: the official rules expressly include digital, net, sound, photographic, installation and live artworks. Works can therefore involve video, interactive media or other digital practice when they satisfy the collection and submission conditions. Who can enter and when? Applicants must be older than 18 and younger than 40 on 11 December 2026. They must be Australian citizens or permanent residents who live in Australia as their principal place of residence. Each artist, duo or collective may submit one entry only. Entries are open from 11 September until Friday 11 December 2026, 5pm Adelaide local time. This is an Australia-restricted opportunity, not a general worldwide open call. Awards and exhibition The Ramsay Art Prize awards A$100,000 for the winning work, which is then acquired into the Art Gallery of South Australia's collection. A separate People's Choice Prize offers A$15,000. Finalists are exhibited in Adelaide from 7 May to 15 August 2027, and the main award winner is scheduled to be announced on 6 May 2027. The A$100,000 amount accompanies the acquisition; the winning piece is not bought for an additional fee. Entry fee, digital-file documentation and rights The online entry fee is A$50 including GST, payable by Mastercard or Visa. The artwork must be a unique, non-editioned work created after 11 December 2025, by the submitting artist or authorised collective. Any use of artificial intelligence in creating the work must be declared. The online form requires at least one still image and accepts no more than three supporting media files, with 10MB per file and 300dpi specifications. Video or sound art must also be made viewable via an online link rather than attached as a video or audio file. Organisers and previous programme The Ramsay Art Prize is presented by the Art Gallery of South Australia and supported by the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation. It forms part of the gallery's recurring national contemporary art prize and exhibitions programme. The 2027 jury is identified by the gallery as Brook Andrew, Rebecca Coates and director Jason Smith, giving applicants a published selection framework. How to apply Complete the entry portal linked from the AGSA prize page and read the full 2027 Terms & Conditions before payment. Applicants enter artwork title, materials, dimensions or duration, recent exhibition history, short artist/process explanations, still images and any video/sound link, together with details needed to confirm age and Australian status. - Australian Photography Your Best Shot 2026: Ocean Theme Open to Australian Residents Until 30 November
Australian Photography magazine's Your Best Shot competition has an OCEAN-themed round closing on Monday 30 November 2026. The continuing photo competition publishes a selection of winning photographs in the magazine and on its website. The call welcomes original digital photographs as well as appropriately documented photographic work, provided the entrant meets the Australia-specific requirements. Eligibility and number of entries The published terms allow Australian residents or Australian citizens who can provide an Australian mailing address; an Australian street address is required to win the prize. Entrants must use their own photographs, captured no more than 24 months before the round deadline. A maximum of three images may be entered by one person. Yaffa Media employees and freelance contributors are ineligible to win. The OCEAN theme is the upcoming round; earlier themes such as MINIMALISM and LIGHT/SHADOW have already closed. Image and accompanying explanation Upload each image using the competition's official OCEAN entry link. The form asks for an account of up to 200 words explaining how the photograph was made. Applicants are also requested to include camera, lens, focal length, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, tripod details when applicable and an overview of any software processing. The original photo and copyright requirements apply to digital edits just as they do to camera files. Judging, publication and prize Australian Photography editor Mike O'Connor selects six photographs for print and online publication for each issue and names a winner and a runner-up. A winner also receives a prize, although the organiser cautions that the specific prize can change. The published competition page describes Your Best Shot as free, so it is not a paid photo-contest entry. The selection is a magazine editorial programme rather than an unrestricted international art exhibition. About Australian Photography and Yaffa Media Australian Photography is a long-running photo magazine and contest publisher operated by Yaffa Media, which also publishes photography guides and other awards. The site documents multiple prior themes, shortlisted entries and publication timing, establishing a continuing series rather than an unknown one-off online promotion. The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is running Elements of the 21st Century 2026, a free visual art and science competition for primary and high-school students across Australia. Entrants create a square periodic-table tile showing how a chemical element is used in contemporary life. Digital artwork is a separate judging category from hand-drawn artwork. Eligibility and entry deadline ANSTO explicitly invites students in all primary and secondary school grades across Australia, whether entering individually or through a teacher. Only one entry is allowed per student, and the artwork must be created by the student. Submissions close at midnight AEST on Friday 20 November 2026. Winners are scheduled to be announced on Monday 7 December. Entry is free; the named prizes are periodic-table-themed packs, and winning art may feature in ANSTO's digital gallery. Digital design rules Create a square 18 cm by 18 cm design containing the chosen element's name, chemical symbol and atomic number, plus an illustration of a modern use. A short explanatory paragraph about that use must accompany the work. The published rules permit digital drawing software and even generative AI within the digital-art category; three-dimensional works are excluded. Hand-drawn entries and two-dimensional collage works are considered separately. Applicants using AI or other tools must still meet the requirement that their submitted work is created by the student. How to submit online Individuals upload a clear photograph or scan of the completed tile via ANSTO's official individual student form and provide the explanatory paragraph. Teachers assemble photographed or scanned student work and use the separate teacher submission form. ANSTO's rules state file-size and upload limits for class submissions. The official page provides design templates, entry forms and a resources list. Organiser and historical record ANSTO is Australia's national nuclear science and technology organisation, with science-education initiatives for schools. - Illinois State Image of Research 2027: Campus Students Enter Visual Work by 6 November 2026
Illinois State University's Office of Student Research has opened entries for the eighth annual Image of Research Competition. Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Illinois State can submit one static image showing research, innovation or creative inquiry, supported by a short abstract. The competition bridges visual presentation and scholarship; it is open to campus students rather than artists from any university around the world. Deadline, exhibition and awards Applications opened on 5 October 2026 and close on Friday 6 November 2026. The eighth annual Image of Research exhibition is scheduled for Thursday 11 February 2027 at Illinois State's University Galleries, with a reception from 4pm to 6pm and public voting for People's Choice. The published awards for both graduate and undergraduate divisions are US$200 for first place, US$150 for second, US$50 for honorable mentions and US$100 for People's Choice. What type of artwork is eligible? Each student submits a single static image of their research or creative inquiry along with a short abstract explaining how the visual relates to the project. This may be relevant to digitally produced imagery and research-based visual communication, but a video, interactive web artwork or time-based film is not itself a static image. The institution's Guidelines and FAQs, linked from the official competition page, set the exact file, abstract, rights and submission standards. Selection and presentation Professional artists and creative practitioners assess visual impact, originality and the connection between image, text and the represented inquiry. Selected finalists have their images enlarged for display at University Galleries. Their work also becomes part of an online exhibition through the university's Milner Library and its institutional repository, ISU ReD. About the organising institutions The University of Illinois State's Office of Student Research operates the competition jointly with Milner Library and University Galleries. The official page archives previous years' finalists and documents both graduate and undergraduate awards, providing an identifiable history of the programme. The 2027 exhibition is described as its eighth annual edition. It is separate from a general public arts prize.
