Open Call: PLATEAU AWARD 2026 for 3D City Model Projects
Overview
Project PLATEAU, led by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, is holding PLATEAU AWARD 2026, a development competition using its open 3D city-model data. The General Division accepts applications, services, games and other content, urban simulations and visualization tools, data-conversion or support software, and visual works. Entries may range from commercial software to individual prototypes.
Eligibility and submission
Individuals, companies, educational or research institutions, public bodies, and other teams may enter the General Division. There is no age or team-size limit; minors need guardian consent. Participants living outside Japan are eligible, but applications and correspondence are principally in Japanese and the schedule follows Japan Standard Time. General Division entrants explain how PLATEAU data is used and submit a presentation PDF of up to 10 MB plus a video of up to three minutes showing the work, among the materials specified in the rules.
Deadline and judging
The main-entry deadline is 23:59 JST on Thursday, 19 November 2026. Online first-round presentations for the General Division are planned for 5–6 December, with the final judging and awards ceremony scheduled for 27 February 2027 in Tokyo and online.
